Misleading

If I could give it zero stars I would. The kindle book and the print book do not match up. They are completely different texts and the kindle version is outdated as well. So if you need the book pictured on the print book tab, do not waste your money on the kindle version.

an advanced introduction to Philosophy of Religion

This is a good text although I suspect that any students lower than higher-intermediate or advanced undergraduate levels would find it very difficult. I found it to often presuppose that the reader was already fairly philosophically sophisticated, so I suspect the introductory student would get quite lost (and bored), unless the class were going at a quite slow speed (which is often the speed that good philosophy is done). So, I don't think I'd recommend this book to students without much philosophy background. It'd be good for more advanced students though.
The 'Notes' and 'For Further Reading' sections were full of good sources for scholars and students to track down.

Excellent for students of religious philosophy

This book was a required read in my undergraduate course in the philosophy of religion, and I must say that I'm very pleased that it was.

The selected readings are fair and balanced, and do well to portray the argument from religious big leaguers like St. Aquinas, St. Anselm, and Plantinga, and members of the skeptic A-team like Hume and Clifford. Many of the popular arguments concerning God's nature, and His relationship with mankind, are examined in this book.

Overall, I think the book is excellent, and serves a very interesting plunge in to the world of religious philosophy, most especially for Catholics like myself who feel the call to examine anything and everything they can get their hands on, haha.

A Solid Sequel To Tesser

Ambryn is the 2nd story of what Chris says will be a trilogy. The first was Tesser. Tesser and Ambryn are the names of 2 of 7 dragons, so maybe we can get Chris to reconsider & write 7 stories????

Anywhoozle, Tesser laid the foundation for the series. There are 7 dragons and each has certain responsibilities to the world. Tesser's is life. Ambryn is responsible for death.

This series explores a world where dragons & magic are real, along with all the magical creatures that entails, trolls and nymphs and werewolves and all. Ambryn deals primarily with vampires (they are the cheaters of death). It's a magical murder/mystery with the fate of the world in play. Several characters from Tesser are integral to the telling of it, though Tesser himself has only a bit part at the start.

All in all I enjoyed it. it had plenty of intrigue & action to keep things moving along and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

But I am dinging one star for a very specific reason: In these books, Chris has employed an alternating person narration. This in itself isn't a bad thing, but the way he implemented it just bugs me. It isn't that the perspective changes from chapter to chapter, it's that he switches randomly from first to third person frequently. He commonly does this within a paragraph. I just found this highly distracting as I kept trying to decide just who was doing the talking. I finally that the only way to deal with it was to ignore it LOL

OK, on to the next in the series. Don't keep us waiting too long...

This book was a great followup to Tesser.I explored more of the supernatural coming into the world.The characters were relateable, and the novel flowed smoothly.My only complaint is having to wait for more int he series.

Ambryn & the Cheaters of Death was an excellent read! The story is told from the perspective of various interesting characters where the reader is shown how each are reacting to the unfolding events, some return from Tesser, while several newcomers leave you looking forward to seeing them again when the next book in the series comes out. Ambryn, the dragon of death made a mistake, a mistake that he takes very personally, once again the actions he will undertake will have far reaching ramifications. Only reason I can't give this a 5 star review is I felt the ending a tad bit rushed, while everything does get wrapped up and no cliffhangers, I'm left wanting for maybe one extra chapter to tie things together a little bit more solidly. To be clear I did receive a review copy of Ambryn, but that doesn't effect my opinion of the story, would have loved it regardless.

Definitely not a Goat

Edward Albee is probably one of the best modern American playwrights we have. The breadth and depth of his understanding of the White, Middle-Class family is astounding. This play explores some themes common in his repertoire, but also explores some new areas that are quite fascinating.

WHAT is Sylvia

Edward Albee's "The Goat" or Who Is Sylvia is, to the issue of Gay Marriage, what Arthur Miller's The Crucible was to McCarthyism. Albee manages to show an audience exactly what true love is and he uses a middle class WASP family with a homosexual son and a goat to do it. The end of the play has a hurt and confused wife holding forth a dripping burlap sack full of hacked up pieces of a dead goat as her husband weeps into his hands. Not only does it address the issue of how dare we define love, but Albee even is brazen enough to use a goat, which of course was the homophobic reaction to the issue of gay marriage in the first place: "If we allow this what is next? Do we allow a person to marry a goat?"
This is ludicrous and anyone with a little common sense should see that to jump from same sex to bestiality is both crazy and propaganda. But let's play with this bit of stupidity for a moment: Imagine a young woman taking her goat home to meet the folks for the first time. "Mom. Dad" she says timidly, "This is Billy."
In 1955 there were actually Senate Congressional hearings where individuals were seriously asked about their connections with the Communist Party and asked to give names of those with whom they worked who might just be "red" as well. Lucille Ball, married to a Cuban, managed to escape ruin because Ball and Arnaz ran one of the most powerful studios in Hollywood. No one was hiring Lucy; she did the hiring. And no Senator was going to tell Americans not to watch the beloved Lucille Ball. Others were not so lucky and were blacklisted, never to work again. Some managed to escape. Shirley Jackson and Stanley Edgar Hyman were members of the Communist party as students at Syracuse university in the 1930'[s/. they escaped persecution but one of their very talented writer friends wasn't published until the early 70's when Woody Allen hired him as a screen writer. Ralph Ellison was published first. Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible- tightly researched and accurate (ironically, Shirley Jackson wrote a book called The Witchcraft of Salem Village but for different reasons) and America saw how the Red Scare was a witch hunt- smart America anyway.
Sadly, The Crucible remains relevant as it could now go on a double bill with Albee's The Goat. One, defining the purity of love using our homophobic culture's bad taste as a well produced metaphor and the other, Miller's Witch hunt that could easily occur with anyone from the Jews in Europe to the Gays in America.
The other thing these plays have in common is that they both won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama; the authors collected multiple Pulitzers, a plethora of Tony Awards and a production life that will go on in Regional Theatres, community theatres, colleges and High Schools for hundreds of years.
And sadly, they will likely both remain relevant. Because if a German is not allowed to marry a Jew and is shot for having a relationship with one, then why can't a man be shot for having a relationship with another man? Genocide still goes on, as Paul Simon wrote in "Old" and Al Gore pointed out to the UN (One can use Google Earth and look down upon the vast concentration camp at Darfur Sudan) as we all stand in line at Wal-Mart on Black Friday 2012, where, according to the news, there were only three Wal-Mart handgun incidents. It takes very little and a Holocaust sneaks up on us while we're worrying about our gas bill and snow tires.
My Country `tis of thee. To think about ourselves and ignore if we are free.
