Christian Wicca: Oxymoron or the Best of Both World?

Finally, a how-to guide for practicing Wicca, celebrating the return of the original Christian Trinity: the Father, the Mother, and the Holy Son Jesus. This book is written expressly for Wiccans who wish to walk the spiritual path of earth-based religions, but do not wish to surrender their Judeo-Christian background. Nancy now offers a simple solution to the rapidly emerging ChristoPagan community.

Wicca, the Old Religion, or the religion of the wise, is the fastest growing form of spirituality in the United States. Many modern and eclectic Christians have no problem recognizing Jesus as Lord, but instead have a problem accepting the dogma of the organized church. Seekers are also feeling the absense of the Female aspect of the Divine and wish to re-establish the Goddess in their spirituality.

In the wake of the discoveries of the Nag Hammadi Library, for the first time since 100-300 A.C.E. - the yin of the Christian faith is seeking to restore it's yang! Despite the overwhelming evidence that there is a Divine Mother --- no one has applied this information to Wicca and the Holy Days of the Wheel of the Year. "Christian Wicca: the Trinitarian Tradition" does this very task, outlining the Sabbats, the Esbats to include the Holy Trinity . . . also introducing observances expressly for Jesus, called Kyriats! Blessed Be!!

Fills an ever-growing void
By A Customer
This book is a very good introduction to the world of Christo-paganism / Christian Wicca ? Goddess Christianity. It covers some basic areas (how it is possible to blend both paths) and some not-so basic (how Esbats, and Sabats might look in this new tradition and the addition of Kyriats). If there's one quibble I have with this, it 's the lack of organization. I don't mind the laid back tone (althogh some might), but it would have been nice to see a table of contents or an index. Also newbies would probably appreciate a recommended reading list or resource page so any books they may want to use as a follow up would be easy to look up. I'd say this book is a perfect starting point for those curious about this tradition. Old-timers may not get that much out of it , but it's still worth thumbing through.
Lastly, I needed to mention that readers should be wary of such intellectual reviews such as "this book sux" and "I use it to light fires". Moronic spelling aside, how much intelligence do you feel is being put into the review? What does this really convey about the content of the book? I suspect these were written by folk with an antipathy against blending both paths. If so that's sad because both "mainstream" Christianity and Wicca are at their truest core about love and acceptance. In any case, don't trust a review that tells you something "sux" or "rocks" and doesn't give you anything more to go on than that.

Refreshing Christianity
By Margaret L. Cooper
Nancy Chandler Pittman gives a refreshing and positive outlook on how to more honestly see our Christian faith. It is time that we Christians admit without embarrassment, shame, or apology that the foundation of our religion is Pagan tradition and unite our Christianity with Wiccan celebrations of the Divine in the yearly cycle. Every Christian should read CHRISTIAN WICCA!

I enjoy this..
By Cihuacoatl
I enjoy this because it's weird. Nancy Chandler Pittman makes NO apologies for her weird doctrinal blends..Much Christianity comes from Pagan religions. I like people who are not afraid to use logic..What the H? She has interesting historical sources for the feminization of the Holy Spirit which is very interesting. She quotes rich and diverse sources. At least in this section, her scholarship is thorough unlike what some of her reviewers have said. Kings X is a group that sings metal and funk and Beatles style stuff for those of you who may be interested in Christian-Wicca rock, check out "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska" (named for Lion,Witch and Wardrobe by C.S.Lewis I think..)by them. Carl McColman (sp?) has written a book called "Embracing Jesus and the Goddess"( I think), which is well written. And it flows better than Nancy's work, and is more exciting, but the scholarly work is hard to make readable. Nancy's work is interesting when she talks about the evolution of her belief system into what is Christian Wicca, a weird mishmash. But whatever..Makes for a chock-filled rich liturgy. Hey..Give us a line on how your beliefs develop..Notice this is (Mary is sacred..)the OnLy book, I have darker leanings,(see my other reviews..), . ..with such a (..dark!..)name for these beliefs, and I reward pioneers. Kudos to Nancy for her bold stand, and even I admire a book named "Christian Wicca", a name which will only get (poor Nancy!) her beat up...
